E-challan check and traffic fine payment

An e-challan is a traffic fine issued automatically from safe-city camera evidence rather than by an officer at the roadside. The notice is posted to the registered owner's address, but many owners only discover a challan when they try to pay token tax or transfer the vehicle, because unpaid challans block those transactions.

In Punjab, challans generated by the Punjab Safe Cities Authority can be looked up by vehicle registration number on the PSCA e-challan portal, and paid through e-Pay Punjab or at designated banks. The portal shows the violation type, the date and the camera location, and in most cases the photographic evidence.

Other provinces are at different stages. Sindh, KP and Islamabad each operate their own traffic-police channels, and coverage of automated camera challans is narrower than in Punjab, so a fine may only exist on the local traffic police record rather than an online portal.

If you have sold a vehicle but the transfer was never recorded, challans keep arriving in your name. Completing the transfer at the excise office is the only fix — paying the challan does not change the registered owner.
