Zakat questions

Which nisab should I use?

The silver nisab of 612.36 grams is the common practice in Pakistan because it sets a lower threshold, meaning more people qualify to give.

Is jewellery I wear included?

Gold and silver jewellery is zakatable regardless of whether you wear it. Other personal items such as clothes, a car or your home are not.

Do I deduct my mortgage?

Deduct only amounts genuinely due now, such as this month's instalments and immediate bills — not the entire long-term balance.

When is Zakat payable?

Once your wealth has stayed above the nisab for a full lunar year. Many people settle it in Ramadan simply because it is easier to remember.
